Humpback Whales are the most commonly sighted whale species in San Diego during October. The water temperatures during October bring in more anchovies which the Humpback whales like to eat so we often get to see them lunge feeding this time of year.

Orca Whales are another species that we can see during the month of October. There is a tropical-Pacific pod of Orca Whales that we get to see when they come up from the warm waters in Mexico.

Minke Whales are the smallest species of baleen whales in the world. We see them occasionally during October but they are one of the more illusive species.

Grey Whales are generally seen during the Winter and Spring months, but sometimes we start seeing Grey Whales on their Southbound migration as early as late October.
